Database Administrator (DBA) – Job Description
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, maintain, and secure our database systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring optimal database performance, data integrity, and security while supporting business operations.
Key Responsibilities:
✅ Database Management: Install, configure, and maintain database systems (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.).
✅ Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize database performance, ensuring high availability and reliability.
✅ Backup & Recovery: Implement data backup, recovery strategies, and disaster recovery plans.
✅ Security & Compliance: Ensure database security, access control, and compliance with industry standards.
✅ Troubleshooting & Support: Diagnose and resolve database issues, optimizing query performance.
✅ Automation & Scripting: Develop scripts to automate database maintenance and monitoring tasks.
✅ Upgrades & Patching: Apply database updates, patches, and ensure compatibility with applications.
✅ Collaboration: Work closely with developers, system administrators, and IT teams to support database needs.
✅ Documentation: Maintain comprehensive database documentation, procedures, and guidelines.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
✔ Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
✔ Experience: [X] years of experience as a DBA or in a related role.
✔ Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or other database management systems.
✔ Proficiency in SQL: Writing complex queries, stored procedures, triggers, and indexing.
✔ Backup & Recovery: Hands-on experience with database backup, recovery, and replication strategies.
✔ Security & Compliance: Understanding of data encryption, access controls, and compliance frameworks.
✔ Performance Tuning: Experience in optimizing queries, indexes, and database configurations.
✔ Automation & Scripting: Knowledge of Shell scripting, PowerShell, or Python for automation.
✔ Cloud Databases: Experience with AWS RDS, Azure SQL, or Google Cloud SQL is a plus.
✔ Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
✔ Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
🔹 Certifications: Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, AWS Certified Database – Specialty, or similar.
🔹 Experience with NoSQL Databases: MongoDB, Cassandra, or Redis is an added advantage.
🔹 Experience in DevOps & CI/CD: Knowledge of database deployment in DevOps environments.
